ClassicPress Support Network Policies on User Content & Privacy

Embedded Content:
Pages on this site may include embedded content (ads, videos, images, articles, etc.) from external sources. Content from other sources behaves as if the user had visited that website. While we feel the services are legitimate, we have no control over the policies for these sources, they may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction.

3rd Party Plugins:
We make use of plugins on our site to add features and enhance the user experience. It is expected that these plugins are prohibited from collecting user information without clear consent, usually in the form of an opt-in checkbox. However, it is not possible for us to audit these add-ons in real time, so visitors should only enter personal information when they trust it will not be abused.

If you upload images or video to the website, you must have proper rights or licenses to distribute that content, you should also avoid uploading content with embedded location data because other visitors can download and extract that information. In addition, when you upload any content to the website, you are giving us permission to use that material as website content without further consent.

When visitors leave comments or fill out forms on the site, we save the data entered into those forms along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. This is for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again if you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

If you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Who We Share Data With:
As a general rule, we do not share your data. We store all data and databases for the websites we operate on our own servers, so only the operators of the websites and those servers would normally have access to that data. However, should law enforcement request information as part of an investigation, we will not place ourselves in a position of protecting potential illegal activity and could be expected to provide relevant information as requested in such cases.

How Long Do We Retain Data:
If you leave a comment, upload media or content of any type, that material and any metadata are retained indefinitely.

If users register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (but cannot change or delete their username).

What Rights Do You Have Over Your Data:
If you have left comments or uploaded media, that material is assumed to be valid website content that you have previously given us permission to use through the act of uploading it to our servers. Requests to remove such data would be entertained on a case basis and we would adhere to any legal requirements. If you created an account, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase the personal data we store, but this would not include data used for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
